Helix is a steel launched terrain roller coaster located at Liseberg in Gothenburg, Västra Götaland, Sweden. It was manufactured by Mack Rides and opened in 2014.
History
In October 2012, Liseberg announced that they would be adding a new attraction for the 2014 season. The park hired Mack Rides to build a multi-launch roller coaster with a terrain layout. It would be codenamed Projekt Helix.[1]
Vertical construction of Helix began in October 2013 when the supports were built on a rocky hill.[2]
Helix opened to the general public on 26 April 2014.

The ride features a LSM launch (rolling) and a LSM boost, making it the first multi-launched roller coaster in Europe. The track winds through the trees, keeping close to the ground. Helix features four airtime hills and seven inversions. The ride was the third launched roller coaster built by Mack Rides after Blue fire Megacoaster at Europa-Park and Manta at SeaWorld San Diego. It was also Liseberg's second launched roller coaster after Kanonen, which was later removed in 2016 to make way for Valkyria, a Bolliger & Mabillard Dive Coaster that opened in 2018.
Ride experience
Helix drops out of the station into the first of seven inversions, a corkscrew. Traveling over a service road, the train turns to the left back uphill into the first of two LSM launches. Then, Helix does a corkscrew leading into a downward turn. It hits the first of four airtime hills, this one being twisted, and dives to the left into a Norweigan loop. It exits the Norwegian loop, diving underneath Lisebergbanan's lift hill, and enters the second airtime hill. Helix hits a zero-g roll, followed by a left hand rosebowl helix. Then it does an S-curve, rising over Lisebergbanan, and dipping to the right underneath FlumeRide's trough into the second LSM launch. Here's where Helix reaches its maximum height of 41 metres, in the form of an inverted top hat. Helix dives to the right, entering the third airtime hill over Lisebergbanan's lift. It then turns to the left, climbing back up the hill into a series of S-curves, ending with a turn around the top of Lisebergbanan's lift hill and a Heartline roll into the brakes.
