An urban legend states that around September 2002, a group of kids who were also Toonami fans visited the park and made the connection of X to the block's most recent TIE, Trapped in Hyperspace. The red and yellow colors, alongside the ride spinning endlessly, reminded them of Swayzak, the antagonist, who sent the ship Absolution spinning out of control. As a joke, they called X "the Swayzak ride." The kids presumably told their friends who told others, and eventually the park employees adopted the nickname; if you asked where "the Swayzak ride" was, they'd immediately know you were talking about X. It is unknown if the nickname was ever used over the all call, but it most likely was. After its refurbishment into X2, the nickname stopped being used, although its popularity had dwindled before then. It's unknown if the story is actually true, but it's an interesting piece of X and Magic Mountain's history either way. Interestingly enough, pre-2007 X:/ No Way Out has also been referred to as the "Swayzak Version." - Supergirl
