Apocalypse is a steel roller coaster located at Lunapark in Languedoc-Roussillon, France. It has previously operated in the United Kingdom at Spanish City Amusement Park and subsequently at Flamingo Land.

History[edit | edit source]

The roller coaster first opened at Spanish City Amusement Park in 1983.[1] It was called Corkscrew and was the second of two Corkscrew with bayerncurve installations to open in the Untied Kingdom, the first being Corkscrew at Alton Towers. Corkscrew arrived at Flamingo Land in 1990.[2] It was situated in the "Thunder Mountain Canyon" area which in later years became the "Plaza" area. It was dismantled after the 2011 season, and the plot where it stood remains vacant. Following a repaint and a new sign to match its new name, Apocalypse opened at Lunapark on June 22, 2012.

Design[edit | edit source]

Elements

Throughout its history, the ride has had white track and blue supports. It has a double corkscrew element.

Trains[edit | edit source]

Single train with 6 cars. In each car, riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows for a total of 24 riders per train. When Corkscrew opened, it had two trains built by Arrow Dynamics, however only one is present at Lunapark. The ride has a transfer track.
