  • Katun has 3 trains with 8 cars per train. Riders are arranged 4 across in a single row for a total of 32 riders per train.
  • This ride features Pre-Drop, an element used by B&M to avoid strain on the Lift Chain.

Katun has an Ancient Mayan theme. Riders pass through two 'Stargates', one at the start and one at the end of the ride. A Katun is a period of 7200 days (just under 20 years) in the Maya calendar.

Fatal Accident

  • On August 18, 2007 a man was struck in the head and killed by the leg of a girl on the ride. The man passed a 2 metre fence to retrieve his hat and didn't realise the train was coming at 65 mph. The girl who hit the man was injured and the ride had to be shut down for 24 hours while an investigation looked at the ride.
