Dark Ride

The entrance to Curse of DarKastle, a defunct dark ride that used to operate at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

A dark ride is an indoor amusement ride in which passengers board guided vehicles that travel through specially lit scenes, usually containing an on-ride soundtrack, special effects, and animatronics or animations.^[1]

The first single-rail dark ride was invented in 1928^[2], however; there have been concepts similar to dark rides, such as the first "tunnel of love", which was created in the late 1800s.^[3]
