Inversion

An inversion is a type of element that turns riders upside-down.
The number of inversions on a roller coaster is usually considered to be how many times the track inverts. However, riders may experience more inversions, due to the train passing through the same section of track more than once. For example, Vekoma's Boomerang has three track inversions but inverts riders six times - three times facing forward and three facing backward. 4th Dimension roller coasters also have a disparity between track and rider inversions due to the spinning of the cars. On free-spinning 4th Dimension roller coasters, the number of rider inversions can vary depending on the distribution of weight in the car.
