Umm, to me a service area is a resting place seen at the side of motorways, but I presume that isn't what you're referring to? In what context?

Ah, I see. The "service area" mentioned is the phrasing from the original newspaper report, I'm guessing that it's referring to a transfer track.

It'll just be for maintenance of the train, the "service area" will be a workshop where they work on it.
