The ride was themed to the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern, voiced by Steve Blum. The ride shared its name with a movie in the DC Animated Universe, which came out in 2009. However, this ride opened, alongside its East Coast equivalent, to promote the live-action ''Green Lantern'' movie starring Ryan Reynolds in the titular role. The movie was a bomb, and many say both rides are bad, just like the movie.

HELP

Vipère is an Intamin ZacSpin roller coaster currently under construction at La Ronde in Canada. It is due to open in 2020 and was formerly located at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California, where it was named Green Lantern: First Flight.

History

This ride first opened at Six Flags Magic Mountain on July 1, 2011 as Green Lantern: First Flight, and it operated until 2017. The ride did not operate after late 2017 due to unknown reasons, and on March 23, 2019, Six Flags Magic Mountain announced that Green Lantern: First Flight would be removed from the park in the near future to make way for future developments.[2]

On August 29, 2019, it was announced that the ride would be relocated to La Ronde for 2020, where it would be renamed Vipère and placed on the former site of Super Manège, the park's Vekoma corkscrew coaster that closed in August 2019.

Theming

When at Six Flags Magic Mountain, the ride was themed to the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern, voiced by Steve Blum. The ride shared its name with a movie in the DC Animated Universe, which came out in 2009. However, this ride opened, alongside its East Coast equivalent, to promote the live-action Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds in the titular role. The movie was a bomb, and many say both rides are bad, just like the movie.
