Arnolds Park is an amusement park located in Arnolds Park, Iowa, USA.
History
Arnolds Park officially opened in 1899 with the introduction of a water toboggan on Lake Okoboji.[1]
A dance pavilion named Roof Garden was installed in the 1920s and was used for concerts and dances over the following decades. The facility was closed in 1987 and burned down by a team of nearly 70 firefighters in October 1988.[2] The park's former roller skating rink was then used as a temporary Roof Garden.[3] A modern equivalent of Roof Garden opened in August 2019.[4]
In the 1990s, a South Dakota developer announced plans to "modernize" the park. Community leaders mobilized to create a "Save the Park" campaign, which raised $7.25 million and purchased the park from the developer.[1]
