The Dentzel Carousel Company was founded in 1867 by Gustav Dentzel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Gustav was an immigrant from Germany with a background in woodworking. He is widely regarded as the father of the American carousel industry. Known for their ornate style, well manufactured parts, and longevity, Dentzel carousels are considered prized possessions and an ever growing rarity as time progresses. Many of these carousels have been designated as historical landmarks in their respective communities.[1]
