Goudurix in 1993

Goudurix is a Vekoma steel roller coaster located at Parc Astérix in Plailly, Hauts-de-France, France. Opened in 1989, it held the joint-record for the most inversions until the opening of Dragon Khan at PortAventura Park in 1995.

History

Goudurix opened on 30 April 1989 along with the park.

Various modifications were made to the ride years after it opened. In 2000, the train interiors were renovated. Seven years later in 2007, theming was added to the station. Then in 2009, the ride was repainted. In February 2013, it was announced that certain areas of the ride were to be retracked in an attempt to make the ride smoother.

Design

Elements

Goudurix features a custom layout, with the track system manufactured by Vekoma. It is one of only two roller coasters with a butterfly element, with the other one being Blue Hawk at Six Flags Over Georgia.

Color scheme

Yellow track and brown supports, used to have white track with yellow rails and blue supports.

Trains

2 trains with 7 cars per train. In each car, riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows, for a total of 28 riders per train. At some point prior to 2002, the original trains were replaced with new Vekoma trains.

Location

Goudurix is located at the bottom of the park, facing Tonnerre 2 Zeus. The batwing element over-looks the lake.
