Hekspeditie (English: Witch Expedition) is a simulator built by Dutch manufacturer Hydraudyne currently located at Sprookjeswonderland in Enkhuizen, North Holland, Netherlands.
History
The ride originally opened as Hurricane at Cape Holland in 2004. It operated here with a pirate theme until the park's closure in 2007, after which the ride was kept in storage. It would eventually be bought by Sprookjeswonderland on 30 January 2014. The future implementation of the ride wasn't known yet, with several themed being considerd.[1] The ride would eventually reopend as Hekspeditie on 1 July 2016. It was the park's most expensive ride ever constructed upon opening.[2]
Design
The ride starts with guests entering the house of the park mascot; Heks Hupsakee (English: Witch Hupsakee). She is represented as an animatronic during the preshow, with the animatronic being manufactured by Heimotion. She tells guests that she borrowed the magic carpet of her friend Magus Fluvius, and will take guests along as she flies around on her broomstick. This brings guests to the main ride, with the vehicle decorated to resemble the magic carpet.
