Emperor is a steel floorless roller coaster at SeaWorld San Diego in San Diego, California, USA. The ride is a Dive Coaster manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard and opened on March 12, 2022.
The ride is 153 feet tall with a 143 feet vertical drop and features floorless ride vehicles. It is the fifth Dive Coaster to be built in North America and the smallest.
History
The ride was originally announced as Mako on January 5, 2019 during a presentation on SeaWorld San Diego's future plans.[1]
However, on November 19, 2019 at the IAAPA Expo in Orlando, it was confirmed that the ride's name had been changed to Emperor.[2]
In December 2019, the tallest point was topped off.[3] Construction made swift progress on the coaster, with the last piece of track set in place on February 5, 2020.[4] The ride took its first test run on March 9, the same day that its corporate sister coaster Iron Gwazi had its first test run.[5]
On July 30, 2020 SeaWorld confirmed that the opening of Emperor had been pushed back to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.[6]
Work resumed in December with the installment of the ride sign.
In August 2021, SeaWorld announced that Emperor would open in March 2022.[7]
In January 2022, it was announced that Emperor would open on March 12, 2022.[8]

On January 8, 2019, some additional statistics were revealed about the ride. It was confirmed that the ride would have 3 inversions, go faster than 60 mph and be almost 2,500 feet long. It features the signature stall before the first drop that all B&M dive machines feature.
Trains
3 cars per train. In each car, riders are arranged 6 across in a single row, for a total of 18 riders per train. Riders will be held in by vest harnesses, similar to Valravn at Cedar Point.
