HELP

The Carousel was built in 1915 for nearby Seneca Park in Rochester, NY, USA. This carousel was the 36th built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, known as PTC No.36 (Philadelphia toboggan company names their carousels PTC followed by the number in succession of creation)

In 1926, the George W. Long Carousel from Seabreeze Park was swapped out with the PTC No. 36 where it operated until it was destroyed by a major fire that destroyed nearly half the park on March 31, 1994 due to a roof tarring accident.[1][2][3][4]

Design

PTC No. 36 featured all hand carved horses and chariots. These pieces were carved by famed craftsman Frank Carretta in 1915. Each figurine was unique in appearance and theme. The carousel featured all original oil painted panels around the upper perimeter of the ride. Originally PTC No. 36 did not contain lights, until they were later added by George W. Long Jr.[1][2][3][4]

Location

During its time at Seabreeze, PTC No.36 had two locations within the park. Originally the carousel was located nearest the Jack Rabbit's current loading station. However, in 1915 the carousel was relocated to a brand new building on the other end of the park. This new building was constructed by George Long Jr. and served as the carousel building until it was destroyed along with the carousel in 1994. Today, the current carousel and carousel building occupy this same location.[4]
