TMNT Shellraiser is a steel launched roller coaster located at Nickelodeon Universe American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA. It is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter 1000, which opened on October 25, 2019. It is based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The shellraiser is a vehicle used by the characters.

History

Photographs of dark green track at a manufacturing facility were posted online in April 2016. It was subsequently determined that they belonged to a clone of Takabisha.[1] Gerstlauer and Triple Five Group officially revealed this coaster and a spinning coaster in November 2017. A model of the two roller coasters was on display during IAAPA 2017.[2]

Vertical construction of the attraction officially began in early 2018.[3] The name was revealed during the American Coaster Enthusiast's Eastcoaster event on February 2, 2019.[4]

The roller coaster opened with the park on October 25, 2019.[5]

Design

Elements

TMNT Shellraiser is a near clone of Takabisha at Fuji-Q Highland, the only difference being that the drop is half a degree steeper. It begins with a pre-launch section that includes a heartline roll before going through an LSM launch that launches from 0-62.1 mph in 2 seconds. The cars enter a tall corkscrew, then a banana roll, then another corkscrew. The second half of the ride begins with a vertical chain lift hill and a beyond vertical drop at an angle of 121.5 degrees, the steepest drop in the world. This is immediately followed by a dive loop, inside top hat, and an Immelmann.

The roller coaster is intertwined with Shredder, a Gerstlauer spinning roller coaster.

Trains

6 cars. Riders are arranged 4 across in 2 rows, for a total of 8 riders per car. Riders are held in by over-the-shoulder harnesses.
