Genting SkyWorlds is a theme park located within Resorts World Genting in the Genting Highlands, Malaysia. It takes the place of Genting Theme Park, which closed in 2013.
History
When announced on 26 July 2013, the park was slated for completion in 2016. The existing Genting Theme Park closed on 31 August.[1]
In December 2018, Genting Malaysia chairman Lim Kok Thay stated that he expected the park to be open by early 2019.[2] However, the park reportedly ran into difficulty due to Fox's new owner, Disney, not being able to reach a contractual agreement with the park's owner, Genting Group.
A trademark application in May 2020 revealed the "Genting SkyWorlds" name.[3]
In March 2021, it was announced that Genting SkyWorlds would open in mid-2021.[4] In January 2022, a revised opening date of Chinese New Year on 1 February 2022 was announced.[5]
