History
The ride was built in 1917 by Philadelphia Toboggan Company and was known as Liberty Carrousel when it opened in Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan.[1]
In 1929, the ride was moved to Olympic Park in Irvington, New Jersey, USA where it operated until the park closed in 1965.[2] It then stood not operating until it was acquired by Disney in 1969.[3][4]
The ride opened with Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971 and was named Cinderella's Golden Carrousel.[3] In June 2010, the ride was given its current name, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel.[5]
