Skyride, originally known as Phoenix Wheel, was a Ferris Wheel built by American manufacturer Phoenix Iron Company that was previously located at Los Angeles County Fair Grounds in Los Angeles, California, USA. The ride was 125 feet in diameter.

History

The ride originally opened at the Cotton States and International Exposition in Atlanta, Georgia, USA in September 1895. During its run at the fair, it earned $64,000. It was then disassembled and relocated to Celoron Park in Jamestown, New York, USA. The ride closed after the 1951 season and was subsequently relocated to California.

The ride reopened in 1952 at the Los Angeles County Fair Grounds as Skyride. It remained in operation through 1980. It was then demolished on May 28, 1981 by demolition company Laud Construction and sold for scrap.[1]
