HELP

Hi-Miler was a travelling steel roller coaster built by US manufacturer Miler Manufacturing previously owned by US carnival operator Ray Cammack Shows.

History

Hi-Miler operated at Playland at the Beach in California from 1971 to September 4, 1972. It was owned by Ray Cammack Shows from 1982 to its closure in 2011.

In the 1990s, the track was repainted green. Previously it was blue.

The roller coaster was closed after a rider fell to his death in 2011.

Incident

On March 20, 2011, 47-year-old Brian Greenhouse fell to his death from the Hi-Miler roller coaster while it was operating at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Reports suggested that the operator was aware of faulty lap-bars on the ride, however it was found that Greenhouse was intoxicated while riding and may have stood up. Investigations following the incident revealed no faults with restraints. A year after the incident, Ray Cammack Shows reached a settlement with family members of the victim.[1][2]
