An alpine coaster is a tracked ride with small cars which typically take advantage of the natural terrain. The track and supports are smaller and simpler than that on a roller coaster or powered coaster. Alpine coasters typically employ some form of braking in the car, either operated automatically or by the rider.
A summer toboggan run or alpine slide is a bobsled alpine coaster. These attractions consist of a trough rather than tubular rails.
