Causeway Safari Park
Amusement park in UK
More actions
Causeway Safari Park was a safari park and amusement park in Ballymoney, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, UK.
History
The park opened as Causeway Coast Lion Park on 15 May 1997. Its main attraction was a safari with 22 lions, though the lions did not arrive until later in the year due to quarantine restrictions. It also had other wild animals in the safari and in a zoo.[1][2]
In December 1996 the owners of the park made a plea for funding from local authorities in order to stay open. The park went bankrupt the following month.[3][4]
The site was taken over by the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in March 1997 who turned it into an animal shelter.[5]
In 2010, the site became Benvardin Animal Rescue Kennels.[6]
