Friction wheel lift

A friction wheel lift uses tires powered by electric motors to help push the train up the lift hill. This type of lift hill is used on quite a lot of coasters, but the chain lift is more common. One model that has commonly used the friction wheel lift is the Zierer Tivoli model. there is a metal fin under the train that gets gripped on both sides by sets of two tires to push it up the lift hill. Tires are sometimes also used in conjunction with breaks at the end of a coaster to help smoothly bring the train to a slow speed back into the station.
