Kilimanjaro is a body speed water slide built by Brazilian manufacturer Blue Wave located at Aldeia das Águas Park Resort in Barra do Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[1][2]

It had the tallest drop on a water slide when it opened in 1999, and it held this record until 2014 when Verrückt opened. Kilimanjaro regained the record in 2016 when Verrückt closed and it still holds it.[1][3]

Design

Kilimanjaro's height is listed as 163 feet 0.07 inches or 49.9 meters,[4] however, it is built into a large hill, so this measurement is likely the drop height or the total elevation change.[1]

The ride starts with an enclosed section, where there is a small pre-drop followed by a straight section, after reaching the max angle of 60° the slide becomes open and riders reach a speed of 100 km/h, at the bottom of the drop there is a long straght section that ends in a pool.[1]
