Parachute Jump is a defunct amusement attraction and landmark that previously operated from 1939 to 1968. The ride inspired many other parachute rides, including the modern Intamin Parachute Tower.
History
The ride opened in 1939 at the 1939 World's Fair in Flushing, New York, USA. It was later relocated to Steeplechase Park, where it operated through 1968.
Initial plans were to demolish the ride in the early 1970s, but the tower was preserved, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The ride underwent several renovations throughout the 1990s and 2000s
