HELP

Spin-A-Disc is a Waltzer built by UK manufacturer Maxwell currently located at Central Pier Blackpool in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, UK.

History

The ride was new to Walter Shufflebottom of Clarence Pier in 1964, and was originally known as Walt's Waltzer. It replaced an earlier Waltzer of the same name - Walt's Waltzer.[1] It was itself replaced by the park’s current Waltzer at the end of the 1981 season, and as part of the deal was sold to manufacturer Maxwell as a part-exchange.[2]

In April 1983 the ride was purchased by Jimmy Godden for use at Pleasurama Amusement Park, Ramsgate. These were the last few years of operation for the small seaside park, and at the end of 1988 the ride was sold to Keith Emmett. Emmett operated a small number of rides on a seasonal basis at Cosgrove Park in Milton Keynes, and the Waltzer joined these for one season. At the end of the 1989 season the ride joined the travelling circuit with showman John Scarrott. It was during the time the ride received its Spin-A-Disc name.
