Technical Specifications

The SuperSpin was 40 ft tall and folded on to one trailer which weighed 46 tonnes or 24 tonnes for the 2 trailer version. The ride's rotation axis on the gondola was located close to the centre of gravity, making it achieve more rotations possible than on HUSS Top Spins. Also, unlike the early HUSS versions it didn’t need water tanks to keep it stable during operation, making the build up easier and much more efficient for moving the ride quickly.

History

The prototype ride was purchased by UK showman John Guest and was named Rolling Thunder the ride travelled the UK from April 1996 to 2002. It is now owned by Lunapark Bajka in Poland and has been renamed to Top Spin. It was smaller than the other two machines, at 39ft tall instead of 40 ft. July 2023 was sold to Lunapark Karamfilovi and works in Bulgaria

The second SuperSpin was the Revolution originally owned by UK showman Billy Danter, and later James Danter. The ride was also a single trailer version and had a backflash. It travelled the UK from September 1995 to February 2002. The ride was replaced by a KMG Freak Out in 2004 due to the ride having technical problems. The ride was sold to the Czech Republic in 2002. In 2011 the ride was found up for sale on the Russian amusement trading site “Vtorio” for just under £120.000 (10 500 000 rub) It was sold to Adlerkurort Metro Park in Russia, where it operated from 2012 to 2016. The ride's current whereabouts are unknown but there was a video on YouTube of the ride running in 2018.

The final SuperSpin was sold to UK showman Michael Mulhearn in 1997 with the name Top Spin. The ride travelled to many UK fairs in the 90s and early 2000s, including Nottingham Goose Fair. The ride stopped travelling in 2010, and in May 2014 was purchased by UK showman David Hackett who kept the ride in storage. In 2021 Clayton Hackett once again started touring the ride around the UK.
