Flip Flap Railway was a wooden roller coaster located at Paul Boyton's Sea Lion Park in Brooklyn, New York, USA.[1]
Flip Flap Railway was built at Sea Lion Park in 1895. The ride was developed by Lina Beecher and had a single vertical loop. At 25 foot in diameter, the loop was too small and too circular and thus subjected riders to dangerous levels of g-force. It reportedly snapped riders' necks. The ride had been dismantled by 1903, when the park was redeveloped into Luna Park.[2]
The ride was the first looping coaster since the 1840s and it sparked a renewed interest in looping coasters.[2]
