Jumeirah Sceirah was an NBGS International body water slide formerly located at Wild Wadi Waterpark in Dubai, Dubai, UAE.[1][2][3] It was replaced by a new pair of slides with the same name in 2012.[4]
It was the tallest water slide in Asia for most, if not all of its existence.[5]
History
Jumeirah Sceirah opened with the park in August 1999.[5]
The park closed for scheduled maintenance after 10 January 2012.[6] A few days later on 17 January, the park annouced that Jumeirah Sceirah would be permanently closed to make way for a new addition.[7][8][9]
During 2012 the slide was fully removed aside from its tower, which would be reused for the replacement Jumeirah Sceirah by WhiteWater West, which was annouced in August.[4][10]
Etymology
Jumeirah is the name of the parent company that owns Wild Wadi, and "Sceirah" takes the word "scare" and makes it rhyme with Jumeirah, so basically "Jumeirah Scarer".
Design
The slide featured no turns, only three consecutive drops, with the first being the steepest.
