Descendants of the Long Family continue to operate Seabreeze Amusement Park in Rochester, New York, USA.[1][2][3]
History
The Long family descended from Edward Long, Arthur Long, and George W. Long Sr. The three brothers had many children who all continued the family traditions in their own rights. The Long family created a total of eight carousels between 1876 and 1904. Today there is only one remaining Long Carousel that remains in good condition. However, it has been in storage since 1991.[1]
George W. Long Jr. & The Norris Family
George W. Long Jr., descendant of George W. Long Sr. was best known throughout the Rochester, New York, USA area. George is best known as the former owner and operator of Seabreeze Amusement Park. The park is now operated by the Norris Family, descendants of George W. Long Jr. The Norris family revived the family carousel business following a major fire at Seabreeze in 1994 that destroyed the park's famed PTC No. 36 Carousel. The new carousel, Seabreeze No.1, was created through the painstaking work of the Norris Family who created the nw carousel entirely by hand, following in the traditions of their predecessors. It was the first carousel (aside from miniatures) to be built by descendants of the Long Family since 1903 and is considered to be the best example of carousel craftsmanship in decades.[1][3]
