The Longest is a tube water slide built by Chinese manufacturer Daxin Water Park Equipment located at ESCAPE Penang in Tanjung Bungah, Penang, Malaysia.[1][2]
It opened on 26 September 2019 as the longest fiberglass water slide in the world at 1111 metres long.[3][4]
History
Development of The Longest began in 2017, the slide was the brainchild of Sim Choo Kheng, CEO of ESCAPE Penang's owner, Sim Leisure Group, who stated "The idea of this water slide came about over frustration that most fun rides and water slides last merely a few seconds".[3][5]
The final design was a 1111 metres long tube slide that would snake its way down from an elevation of 70 metres, a Ski Lift would also be built to take riders and their tubes to slide's apex.[6][7]
The slide was constructed over a period of 8 months in 2019, the length of the process was due to it being built without heavy machinery, instead being assembled using a multitude of winches and scaffolding as a way to not damage the forest surrounding the slide.[3][7][8]
Guinness World Records mesured the slide on 6 September 2019 at 1111 metres, presenting ESCAPE Penang with the record of the longest water slide. The slide opened 20 days later on 26 September 2019.[3][4]
