Number produced

According to Schwarzkopf Coaster Net, five of these were produced. This number seems surprisingly low considering there are (as of writing) ten City Jet entries on RCDB. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 13:50, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'll dump my thoughts on these coasters here, as I don't think they're coherent enough to write an article about yet:

  • Currently, RCDB lists Brontojet and the Gardaland unit as separate entries, but it seems likely these are the same ride and that's how it's currently listed on Coasterpedia.
  • City Jet at Gillian's Wonderland Pier operated from 1978 to 2004. The 1978 source is from a book, and a newspaper article confirms it was operating in 1981 (RCDB opening date is currently 1981 or earlier). Opened new at Steel Pier in 1976.
  • City Jet at Kid's World (previously known as "Haunted Mansion & Amusement Pier" and also Long Branch Pier) added a City Jet in 1979 (source). This is thought to have left just before the fire that destroyed their [[Unknown (Kid's World)|Auto Sled coaster] in 1987, but I can't remember where I read that.
  • Bobsleigh at Parc de la Vallée which, if our timeline is correct, has been in Europe since its manufacture in 1973.
  • Jet 400 at Fun Pier (now Morey's Piers). Listed on RCDB as operating from 1975 to 1984. Damaged by fire in 1984, personally, I doubt it would have been saveable given it also partially collapsed with the pier it was on.

The above histories seem fairly certain. These ones I am less sure about:

  • City Jet at Drieveliet in the Netherlands, according to RCDB it operated from the 1970s to 1995 and was stored until 1999, when it was exported.
  • Frozen at Attrapark, accounted for since 2003 on RCDB and almost certainly the same coaster given its unique theme.
  • Jet 400 at Jolly Roger at the Pier. According to RCDB, it operated from 1975/6 to 1980.
  • Jet 400 at World's Fair 1982. Only operated for one year.

My observations, assuming there were indeed only five produced:

  • Perhaps the Jet 400 roller coasters at Morey's Piers, Jolly Roger at the Pier, and the World's Fair are the same unit. The Jet 400 damaged in the 1984 fire has red track with white supports, just like the 1982 World's Fair Jet 400. This would mean an error in RCDB's dates somewhere and is purely speculation on my part.
  • The "Frozen" unit could be the City Jet from Kid's World.
  • I have no idea about the Drievliet unit, and my only source on this one is RCDB. If it did operate for all that time, I think there must have been more than five City Jet coasters produced.
