Skymaster (Lunapark Bastion) & Minimaailmanpyörä‎

Hi, I saw your recent edits on both of the rides and was wondering what your source/s are? The ARM Skymaster currently with Lunapark Bastion was reported as new to Irish showman William Bird in 1995 by the UK fairground press. Happy to be proven wrong, but you'll need to provide some evidence or unfortunately it will have to be changed back. Have you seen any pics of the Skymaster at Wasalandia? Unfortunately I've never come across any, so would be great if you have.

As for the mini ferris wheel, I used https://www.huvipuisto.net/ which has generally proven a very detailed and accurate source. It claims Wasalandia had its mini wheel from 1988, and so could not be the same one that was at Planet FunFun. I'm assuming you are saying this is wrong, so please could you provide evidence to prove this? Also, looking at available pics they were different colours, although of course things can be repainted.

Sorry to sound very picky, but obviously we want the site to be as accurate as possible. Feel free to reply here, on my talk page, or alternatively you can join the site's Discord.

Hi!
There was a Skymaster at Wasalandia in 1993, and most likely it was there only for that season. I have a one picture of it but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to publish it, but the ride has exactly the same lighting pattern and looks almost identical to the one in Lunapark Bastion. In the picture from Wasalandia it has a frame and gondolas coloured in white, so I'm assuming that the frame of the ride has been painted to orange after that. So I'm still 95% sure that this ride is the same one which was at Wasalandia. At least it's a proven fact that the park had Skymaster in 1993, since it was mentioned in the Vaasan Ikkuna-newspaper in 19.4.1993 and it can also be seen in the old commercial of the park. Here's a screenshot from the commercial. https://i.ibb.co/LpMrtJJ/master.jpg
About that Mini Ferris wheel, I'm 100% sure that these rides are the same one. Planet Funfun went bankrupt in February 1995 and a lot of rides were sold/moved to Wasalandia. Here's an aerial photo from summer 1995 from the book "Monivivahteinen Merikaupunki Vaasa". I have some older aerial photos from Wasalandia, and this is the earliest photo where Mini Ferris Wheel, Venetsia Carousel, Kiddy Coaster and Dragon-ride can be seen, and all of these were old rides from Planet Funfun. So I must say that Huvipuisto.net does have wrong information about that. The site doesn't even mention the Dragon-ride (which is nowadays in Linnanmäki) and the Kiddy-coaster (nowadays Marienkäferbahn in Traumland), which can be seen in this picture! These two rides were relocated in a couple of years after the photo was taken and the other three were at the park till the day it closed it's doors permanently. https://i.ibb.co/n1wDv4R/mde.jpg
No need to aplogize, I want the information to be accurate as well. :) Wasalandia is pretty much forgotten park nowadays, since it's last years of operating it was targetted for kids and families and the other parks in Finland were competing with big rollercoasters. So I guess that there's not many people who have researched the history of this park. The park had also some rented flat rides from Swedish funfairs between 1990-1992 and I was going to add these to the site as well but I don't have had time to do that yet. So about that Skymaster-ride I can't be 100% sure, but I'm pretty much confident that these are the same ride! Maybe I should ask the owner of the photo if I can publish it since it might be the only photo of that ride. Coconut (talk) 11:42, 3 May 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
