Water Slide is a cancelled body water slide that was proposed for Alaskaland in Fairbanks, Alaska, USA, by Harold Woodham, who intended to operate it.[1][2]

History

In 1984, businessman Harold Woodham approached the city-run Alaskaland Commission with a proposition to build a 360 foot long water slide that he would operate for four months a year. Upon hearing this idea, Alaskaland Commission chairperson Sybil Ramsey let out a laugh, likely due to the strangeness of building an outdoor water slide in such a northern city.[1]

Woodham eventually obtained a lease for a 0.78-acre portion of the park, but he later asked to end it in April 1985.[3]

The slide was formally cancelled in 1986, when Woodham, along with business partner Jess Belton, instead started development on a large entertainment complex located in nearby North Pole, Alaska, which was to include a full-size water park.[3] This project was also never built.
