Wild Mouse was a wooden wild mouse roller coaster located at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California, USA.
History
The history of the Wild Mouse dates back to 1957, when park president Laurence Canfield rode the Wild Mouse at Germany's Oktoberfest. In December, the park decided on installing a Wild Mouse at an expected cost of around $50,000. The plans for the ride were acquired from James Wesley "Patty" Conklin. The cars were purchased from German company Buchwald Gebruder. The track was constructed in Oregon by the California-based Timber Structures. The construction was handled in house and the first test run occurred on May 29, 1958. Wild Mouse opened to the public on June 21, 1958.[1]
The ride was originally constructed on sand, but was moved on to a new cement surface in 1960.[2]
Wild Mouse was closed in 1976. It was removed to make way for Logger's Revenge, which opened in 1977, and subsequently sold to Frontier Village. The ride was never reassembled and was ultimately auctioned off in pieces when the park closed in 1980.[2]
