In July 2009, Nigloland announced that it would install a new roller coaster for 2012, its 25th season. In 2010, the opening was pushed back a year, to 2013. It was subsequently revealed that Mack Rides were designing this roller coaster. The opening date was later pushed back further to 2014.
Track arrived on site in November 2013. Alpina Blitz opened on April 12, 2014.
The track layout is similar, but not identical, to that of an Intamin Mega-Lite.
