Fireball, previously known as Skyrocket and Blue Streak, was a wooden roller coaster previously located at Riverview Park in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
History
The ride opened in 1923 as Skyrocket. It was renamed to Blue Streak in 1936 and Fireball in 1959.
The ride closed with the park in 1967.[1]
After the park closed, all of the roller coaster trains - including Fireball's - were offered for $100,000 each.[1] After there were no bidders, the trains were sold with the trains from Pippin and Bobs to Adventureland in Addison, Illinois, USA for $6,000.[1]
The trains were put on display at Adventureland, alongside trains from Pippin and Bobs.[1] All trains were sold to a private collector for $500 in 1969 after Adventureland's owner passed.[1] The new owner first stored them in Momence, Illinois, USA, adjacent to the Kankakee River. They were later moved to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, USA. The Pippin and Fireball trains were then moved back to Momence in 1971. Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA bought the Fireball trains in 1976 for $6,300.[1]
