Loudoun Castle

From digging via the internet and via some other sources, after it left Galaxyland, it is certain that this Intamin Freefall was the one exported to the UK that Loudoun Castle applied for planning permission to install in 2004, but cancelled plans to build it after planning permission took 18 months to approve. It was then sold to Movieland Park in Italy where it reopened in 2006. MK700 Geek (talk) 23:40, 11 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I also doubled checked the other installations and believe this is the one with the evidence. MK700 Geek (talk) 23:49, 11 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info - what sources are you using? Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:09, 12 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I used a YouTube video of Barnstormer as the other sources were Wikipedia and forums but it makes sense from other evidence. (E.g Slitherin going to Italy) MK700 Geek (talk) 20:38, 12 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I am afraid I don't follow your logic here. We would need something more concrete. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 07:41, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ah - is it mentioned in the YouTube video? Apologies I haven't watched it yet Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 07:41, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
It is said in the description MK700 Geek (talk) 10:26, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks - I've had a look on the East Ayrshire Council planning portal and found this application for a Drop Tower, raised in October 1999 and approved in January 2002. I don't think the dates line up though. Unfortunately to find out more you'd probably need to visit the library there - so this one may remain unsolved. Thanks. With my evidence I have seen, I still believe that it is the one that Loudoun applied for in 2004. MK700 Geek (talk) 11:59, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
The application in 1999 was for Raymond Codona's Fabbri drop tower Jason foulkes (talk) 12:48, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yeah it was. MK700 Geek (talk) 13:15, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Lachlan, was the YouTube not enough evidence? MK700 Geek (talk) 00:59, 15 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, it just feels a bit too unreliable for me. We don't know what the uploader of that youtube video was basing their writing on - they could have been using the Wikipedia article. I did find another planning application which does mention Free Fall, but there's nothing to confirm if it is indeed an Intamin Free Fall or this particular ride. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:40, 15 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh wait, that is the one. This planning application right there is concrete evidence that this ride was bought by Loudoun linking in with the other sources and infomation about it found online. MK700 Geek (talk) 00:24, 16 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
This includes the rough date perimeters and estimates @Lachlan. MK700 Geek (talk) 00:25, 16 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
The planning application gives us the dates and "Proposed Erection Of New Free Fall Ride" but it doesn't tell us what the ride is. The Wikipedia info isn't sourced and YouTube isn't a reliable source. It just feels like we're making a lot of assumptions and relying on shaky info. The YouTube description doesn't mention the ride actually arriving in the UK either. Sorry I appreciate I'm being a bit cynical here - but the aim of the wiki is to provide concise reliable info and I just think this one is a bit too woolly. Ah, I understand that. No worries. MK700 Geek (talk) 16:54, 16 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
