This photograph, dated circa 1920, shows the Scenic Railway, the Zoo and the Racing Coaster. The space that Whirlwind Racer sat on appears to be empty, and the spinning Caterpillar ride doesn't appear to be there either.
This photo, dated 1931, shows the Whirlwind Racer and the Zoo. The station is indistinguishable.
This photograph is dated circa 1930. It's a bit hard to make out, but I'm pretty sure the station for the Whirlwind Racer is located at the turn nearest the zoo and the Scenic Railway. In this photograph, the zoo appears operational (or atleast not derelict). The date on this picture looks consistent with the one above.
This photo, dated 1957, shows the Whirlwind Racer but not the zoo, instead the Wall of Death circular building sits where part of the zoo once was. It also shows the station close to the Scenic Railway and lower.
An undated postcard shows the Whirlwind Racer, the zoo (still standing), Racing Coaster and Scenic Railway. Interestingly, the station is located on a different curve, closer to the Racing Coaster than the Scenic Railway. The other curve is quite clearly fenced off and the station is elevated. The track also appears to have sides made out of wood.
What I can gather from these photographs (assuming the dates are correct) is:
- The Whirlwind Racer was installed after the Scenic Railway and the Racing Coaster (this is obvious)
- The station for the Whirlwind Racer was relocated at some point between opening and the 1930s. A ghost train was built where the original station was.
- The track style was changed slightly, possibly coinciding with the relocation of the station.
