Barnstormer is a Screamin' Swing built by US manufacturer S&S Worldwide currently located at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, USA. It reaches a maximum height of 81 feet. Barnstormer was installed by Ride Entertainment Group.[1]
History
The attraction was officially announced on August 2, 2010.[2] It was opened by Dolly Parton on the first day of the 2011 season, which was March 26, 2011.[3]
Theme
Barnstormer was added as part of a new themed area called Owens Farm, named after Dolly Parton's mother's family. The barnstormers were stunt pilots who purchased surplus second-hand planes after World War I. The barnstormers would fly around the country, land in farmers' fields and sell plane rides to the local people. This included Dolly's paternal grandfather Jake's farm.[4]
