Big Bear Mountain is a steel launched terrain roller coaster at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, USA. It opened on May 12, 2023. It is a Family Launch Coaster installation from Vekoma.[2]
History
The addition of a new attraction, described as a "multi-generational coaster", was announced by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton in June 2021.[3]
On August 5, 2022, it was announced that the ride would be called Big Bear Mountain.[4] Track began arriving onsite in late September 2022.[5]
The train was revealed in November 2022 at the IAAPA Expo in Orlando, Florida, USA.[6]
The final piece of track was installed in January 2023.[7]
Big Bear Mountain was opened on May 12, 2023 by Dolly Parton.[8]

This is the first of Vekoma's new Family Launch Coaster model. They feature the same trains as the normal Vekoma family coaster model, except for the large launch fins on the bottom. The track has been redesigned to accommodate for these fins, leading to the big gaps in the track design.

10 cars per train. In each car, riders are arranged 2 across in a single row, for a total of 20 riders per train. The trains are designed to resemble SUVs and have working headlights and taillights, and feature on-board audio.[8]
