Battlestar Galactica is a steel launched twin roller coaster located at Universal Studios Singapore in Sentosa, Singapore. The attraction has two tracks which interact and cross over each other. They are known as "Cylon" and "Human". The former is an inverted roller coaster with five inversions while the latter is a standard sit-down roller coaster without inversions.

The Cylon side is one of the Three operating full-circuit launching inverted coasters, alongside the Green side on Dueling Dragons at Guangzhou Sunac Land and Storm: The Dragon Legend at Tusenfryd. The now-defunct Volcano: The Blast Coaster at Kings Dominion was also an inverted launch coaster.

History

The Human train in 2012, prior to the modifications

A week after opening, a problem was identified on one of the trains during a morning test run of the Human side, which caused a seat to fall off the train. Shortly after, the ride lost its license to operate. On March 25, 2010, Battlestar Galactica was closed for re-inspection and a redesign.[1][2] A press release from Resorts World Sentosa in August revealed that higher than anticipated stress and vibration levels led to a component failure which caused a seat assembly to detach. Resorts World Sentosa also stated that Vekoma was in the process of designing a new component, which would have to be manufactured, installed, and tested before Battlestar Galactica could reopen.[3] Battlestar Galactica reopened in February 2011.

The ride was closed again in July 2013 for two years and review. The attraction reopened on May 27, 2015 following modifications to the trains. The outermost seats were removed, reducing the number of seats per row to two.[4]

At some point, Cylon's track was repainted grey and Human's track a darker shade of red.
