HELP

Highlander is a Drop Tower currently located at Hansa-Park in Sierksdorf, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

History

Highlander was announced on August 17, 2018.[1] It opened on April 27, 2019.[2]

Seatbelts were added to Highlander in 2022 after an accident on the Orlando Free Fall at Icon Park in Orlando, Florida, USA.[3]

Design

At a height of 120 metres, this is the world's tallest free-standing drop tower. Riders are tilted 30° forward prior to the drop before returning to the original position. During operations later in the day, riders are dropped with tilted seats, which return to the original position when reaching the ground.

The top of the attraction is 149 metres above sea level. The freefall drop is 103 metres long and riders reach a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

Theme

Highlander is a part of a new "Bezauberndes Britannien" park area, which roughly translates to charming Britain. It is situated within one of the helices of the Nessie roller coaster, which opened in 1980. Additional theming was added to Nessie to create the new area. The ride has a soundtrack produced by IMAscore.
