Scenic Railway is a wooden roller coaster located at Luna Park Melbourne in Australia. It is the second oldest roller coaster in the world, and the oldest operating roller coaster in the world (as Leap The Dips is currently standing but not operating). It is a side friction roller coaster with a brakeman.

History

Scenic Railway was built as part of the transformation of Dreamland into Luna Park. It opened with Luna Park on 13 December 1912.[1]

Design

Elements

The layout of the roller coaster forms a rounded triangle shape when viewed from above. It entirely surrounds Luna Park.

Unpainted track and white supports.

2 cars per train. In each car, riders are arranged 2 across in 5 rows, for a total of 20 riders per train.
