Blackpool Pleasure Beach Operation

https://www.facebook.com/groups/50422812298/permalink/10159534799677299/ This photo shows proof that Blackpool Pleasure Beach ran Magic Harbor until 1988 or later. MK700 Geek (talk) 16:45, 2 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for sharing! Though I may be missing something - where does it show BPB's involvement? Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 19:35, 2 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Lachlan. I am really intrigued myself. Looking at the brochures and fate of the rides there, BPB definitely ran the place for a few years. Mr. Funshine, the mascot for the parks, appeared on some of the Magic Harbor brochures like this one: http://www.ridezone.com/defunct/parks/SC/Magicharbor/magicharbor.htm
I also read a article that discussed the moving of Morecambe Pleasure Park's Giant Wheel to Magic Harbor in the USA as well. MK700 Geek (talk) 19:46, 2 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Previous searches for Magic Harbor on newspapers.com were unsucesfful but for some reason I've managed to find some useful articles today like this one that says that someone called Bob Megerles took over the lease from BPB in 1993. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 19:58, 2 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
The year in the Facebook post may be a bit off - this article suggests the park closed in 1986. I'll keep digging. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:02, 2 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Lachlan. Cool info. Two sources led to different estimates of BPB's run. I am leaning towards the newspaper source, but the Facebook photo might also be true. MK700 Geek (talk) 20:50, 2 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
It is not entirely clear from the newspaper articles when the park closed - but I have read a couple that suggest it closed in 1986. It is weird though that Blackpool Pleasure Beach held on to its lease/continued to own Magic Harbor Inc. until 1993. Now that I think about it, I did see an article from 1993 that said the park had been closed for six years. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:55, 2 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
The relocation of the Trabant to Southport and Big Wheel to Riverside park in 1987 also indicate that Magic Harbor closed in 1986 Jason foulkes (talk) 12:43, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, seems very likely. MK700 Geek (talk) 12:49, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
1986 closure seems likely. It's a bit odd that articles like
this don't mention it though. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:31, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
This article in May 1986 says the park has closed, but there are adverts for the park in newspapers later in the year. I'm leaning towards changing all the closed dates to 1986. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:39, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Chance Rotor

Will have to check my notes when I get home, but pretty sure a Chance Rotor was reported at Morecambe in pieces in the late 80s (was never built up). Would have been the one from Magic Harbor Jason foulkes (talk) 12:40, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Could be. The Chance Rotor at Magic Harbor was called Witches' Cauldron MK700 Geek (talk) 13:22, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Big Apple/Caterpillar

This coaster is called "Caterpillar" on RCDB but on the park map on RideZone it is listed as Big Apple. I haven't found any other mention of this coaster. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:13, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
