HELP

Bobsleds is an in-house designed and manufactured steel tube track and wooden support roller coaster designed by George W. Long and Seabreeze, located at Seabreeze Amusement Park in Rochester, New York, USA.[1][2]

History

Bobsleds opened in 1954 as Junior Coaster. The ride had a wooden support structure and is believed to have used angle iron for the track. After riding Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland, park management chose to overhaul the coaster and add tubular steel track to it. The ride re-opened in 1962.

The ride was refurbished by Idaho, USA firm Amuse for the 2019 season, with new track fabricated by Hodgson Steel out of Canada.[3]

Design

Bobsleds features a terrain guided section of track leading from the station to the main chain driven lift hill. From the chain lift hill, the coaster makes its first drop and continues on through a series of drops and turns until completing its run with a main helix feature before following the terrain back uphill and reentering the station.[1][2]

Trains

Single cars. Riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows, for a total of 4 riders per car.

Each single car train is painted a different color and features a different country flag/symbol and text to resemble competing Olympic Bobsled theming. The seating inside the car contains a singular cross lap bar and has a significant amount of room both in the front and rear seat. The seats are wide enough that when groups of children or others ride. This is largely dependant on the overall proportions of the riders at the operator's discretion. The general arrangement, however, is one rider in the front seat and one rider in the rear seat.[4]
