Fire In The Hole was a steel enclosed roller coaster previously located at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, USA. The ride had a long electrically powered incline through several different animatronic scenes. This was then followed by a series of three drops with powered sections in between. While the powered sections were typical of a powered roller coaster and/or dark ride, it was the three drops that allowed this ride to be considered a roller coaster. Fire In The Hole was the first roller coaster in Silver Dollar City.
At some point, the ride was shortened. It was originally around 1,800 feet long.[2]
History
On February 13, 2023, Silver Dollar City announced the closure of Fire In The Hole, which would close at the end of the 2023 season.[3]
Fire in the Hole last operated on December 30, 2023. A new version of the ride, Fire in the Hole, opened at the park in 2024.
Theme
The attraction depicted the burning and pillaging of an Ozark village during the 1880s by the Bald Knobbers vigilantes.[4]
Trains
2 cars per train. In each car, riders are arranged 4 across in 2 rows, for a total of 16 riders per train.
Incidents
On April 30, 1972, a day after opening, a 67-year-old was hospitalized after falling from the ride. She suffered from fractures to her nose and right arm.[1]
In July 1980, a 23-year-old man was killed after being struck in the head when the train was being switched into the service area. Other passengers experienced minor injuries.[5]
