The Funplex Myrtle Beach was an amusement park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA. All of the rides were manufactured by SBF Visa Group and provided by Rides 4 U.[1]
History
In 2020 plans for a third Funplex park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, went public. The chain had been looking to expand outside their two parks in New Jersey.[1][2]
After 7 months of construction, the park opened on May 21, 2021, with all but one of its rides, Mach Fun.[3][4][5]
The park added several new non-ride offerings in 2022, including new carnival games, food options, and merchandise.[6]
On October 30, 2024, the park announced on its website that it would be permanently closed.[7][8] Lahn Hospitality and Amusement Group marketing director Amanda Boyer said in a statement that the company had "shifted its strategic focus to its New Jersey properties, including its golf club, hotel, restaurant, and two amusement parks".[9] The park had finished its season on September 15.[10]
All of the rides sent to broker Rides 4 U, after which 5 of them would be sold to Fun Spot America Theme Parks, with the company opting not to buy Fun in the Sun and Sky Velocity.[9][11]
