Fun Spot America is an amusement park in Kissimmee, Florida, USA. It is one of two theme parks in Central Florida with the Fun Spot name. The other park is located in Orlando. Fun Spot America is located adjacent to Old Town and operates the smaller park's single ride, a Ferris Wheel.

History

The area where Fun Spot Kissimmee now stands was originally a par-3 golf course called the Million Dollar Mulligan that opened in 1991,[1] when the course closed in 1997, it was purchased by the founder of Sky Fun 1 Inc., Bill Kitchen, and a 300 foot tall Skycoaster was built. It opened on November 22, 1997.[2]

In the years following the SkyCoaster's opening, multiple attractions were built in the area surrounding it,[3] these included a rock climbing wall, paddle boats, and G-Force Dragsters, a ride where you would sit in a track-mounted car, and be launched from zero to over 110 mph in under 2 seconds, In 2004, Fun Spot America Theme Parks would purchase the rides with the intention of constructing a full amusement park.[4]

Two years after Fun Spot purchased the park, they would start construction on Fun Spot USA, and in 2007 they would complete the park, it still featured SkyCoaster and the G-Force Dragsters, but also many other new rides and four go-kart tracks.

In 2014, Fun Spot USA was rebranded to Fun Spot America along with Fun Spot Action Park in Orlando.

In spring 2016, Fun Spot America and the neighboring Old Town announced a partnership. Fun Spot America would move several of its rides to the southern portion of Old Town, as well as operate the park's Ferris Wheel.[5]

On March 23, 2020, the park was closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.[6] It then reopened on May 25, 2020.[7]
