Pirates Hideaway is a steel, partially enclosed roller coaster located at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, USA. Opened in 2007, it was manufactured by Wisdom Rides.

History

In 2003, Wizard's Cavern, a Mack Rides wild mouse coaster, closed permanently. After its age and many relocations, it had reached the end of its service life.[1] Due to the popularity of Wizard's Cavern, the building was reused for Pirates Hideaway a few years later, except the building was renovated. It was originally going to open in 2006, but this was delayed to 2007.

Pirates Hideaway, along with Hot Tamales, survived Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Design

The ride has a spiral lift. Riders go through a drop and a turn, another turn and drop, and then enter the enclosed section. The enclosed section is similar to the outside, as riders go through more dips and turns. The outside is elaborately designed whereas the enclosed section has no decoration or theming.

Trains

5 cars. Riders are arranged inline in 2 rows, for a total of 2 riders per car.
