Closing date

Should 1 October 2010 be regarded as the closing date? MK700 Geek (talk) 22:25, 24 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

i'm Not sure - this website says September https://www.loudouncastle.co.uk/about.html Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 23:01, 24 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Just to be sure I say that. MK700 Geek (talk) 23:09, 24 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Probably best just to keep it as 2010 as we don't have anything to confirm. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:13, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Although, Bembom in the ParkWorld article did mention September. MK700 Geek (talk) 21:17, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm good point so it effectively comes down to whether we think the park operated on Friday 1 October. Okay, let's leave it as September then unless some more info comes to light. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:17, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Well this article was posted on 1 October 2010 at around 1:30pm and it was mentioned earlier in the week that Henk planned the shut the site down earlier that week. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/owner-blames-free-attractions-and-vat-1071482 MK700 Geek (talk) 12:50, 26 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think the park was not open on 1 October 2010 due to that article and reading forums so it was definitely September 2010. MK700 Geek (talk) 12:53, 26 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
OK, makes sense 👍 Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:36, 26 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Location

Should it be either Galston, East Ayrshire, Scotland, UK or Galston, Strathclyde, Scotland, UK? MK700 Geek (talk) 22:56, 24 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

East Ayrshire Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:58, 24 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Paragraph

Hi @Lachlan, the unsourced paragraph you removed was sourced. MK700 Geek (talk) 22:10, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Was it this one: Following 1998, the park was closed by Lands Improvement Holdings due to major debt problems. The park was then left standing but not operating during 1999. At the end of 1999, Lands Improvement Holdings eventually sold the park to Scottish showman Raymond Codona. ?
There was another one that I merged into another paragraph. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:14, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it was backed up https://www.joylandbooks.com/news2002_2.htm MK700 Geek (talk) 22:19, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Ah I see - thanks for bringing me up over that - I would put a source for each paragraph. You can cite something multiple times, in the VisualEditor. If you go to Cite, then Re-use.
The way they've written that is a bit odd - Raymond Codona did save the park, and did spend £500,000 on it - this is all in newspapers from the time, but he purchased it in 1998. It took me a while to make sense of what they had written! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:28, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yeah very odd MK700 Geek (talk) 22:29, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
It also said that the park was SBNO during 1999, so I removed the 1999 dates MK700 Geek (talk) 22:29, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Can you please change them back, as the park was definitely running in the 1999 season ([1] [2]) Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 10:12, 27 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Pirate's Cove

Hello @MK700 Geek the area is referred to as "Pirate's Cove" at this page - did you see it written as Pirate Cove somewhere else? Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:21, 27 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Loudoun Castle Vaults via Wayback Machine uses the term. https://web.archive.org/web/20080325125534/http://loudouncastlevaults.co.uk/ MK700 Geek (talk) 20:26, 27 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm I guess it's a toss up, unless we can find a photo of the area Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:46, 27 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
